As already mentioned, the Canon EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM uses a stepping motor for AF. AF operations are fairly fast in phase detection AF mode but, frankly, not quite as speedy as a ring-type USM AF. In a silent environment there's a slightly noticeable amount of AF noise although it remains unobtrusive.
Get an EF or RF lens around 40mm instead (because 24mm*1.6= 38mm), it will look the same as a 24mm EF-s lens on apsc. Yes, the Canon adapter is compatible with an EF-S lens, but your camera will crop the image down to only the APS-C area of the sensor the lens covers, so you don't see any vignetting.

They're both on the affordable end of the price range, both feature f/2.8 as maximum aperature, and both offer 1:1 magnification, so I'm trying to figure out what differentiates the two that I can make a decision based on.
